French Regency

Tom Seely Legacy Shaker Furniture
The French Regency line takes it's name and styling direction from a relatively unknown period in French history from 1715-1723, just between the reigns of Louis XIV and Louis XV. During this period, French craftsmen began to move away from the rigid classical styling imposed upon them during the reign of Louis XIV.  Asymmetrical curved lines began replacing the formal, symmetrical, straight lined forms of the past.  Furniture looked much lighter and romantic in appearance, compared to the heavy, formal styling adopted previously.
